Full Circle
I love this project.
It has provided a focus each month; a touchstone.
It is saturated in nature.
It is personal and intimate.
It speaks softly.
It is a quiet statement about resilience.
The music is unselfconscious.
It goes with the flow.
The Year Round has gone full circle. It began with a song released on 21st December, followed by a song every month. The last one (Drift To Earth) has just been released. Melanie Pappenheim sings every song beautifully. Other musicians sprinkle bit of magic on many of the tracks. My cello also came out of its case and features here and there

It has been a pleasure hearing these songs throughout the year. Cycles following time, (seasons, months, or periods of the day), as you seem to suggest, can be a protection from the selfish, and cruel, aspects of humanity that dominate our times. There are lieder, diatonic preludes, tone rows, and ragas that have their places within compositional cycles or even daily domestic routines, and your songs have likewise reached for and shared a much needed refuge of stillness!
